OSHE organized training on application process for compensation benefits with the Central Fund for victims’/workers’ group in Dhaka and Savar

OSHE developed a concept note to organize 24 trainings on application process for compensation benefits with the central fund for the victims’/workers’ group under the occupational accident and disease monitoring project.

Three (3) training on application process were held in this quarter. The first one was held on 20 February 2023 and the second one was held on 28 February 2023. Distinguished trade union leaders, volunteers, social worker, journalists were the participant of the training in this particular issue. A total of 34 volunteers and workers joined in two training events on application process for compensation where 21 were women and 13 were men. Participants from Dhaka, Savar and Dhamrai were joined the event.

The first training on application process and compensation was organized at YMCA Training Center, Savar, Dhaka on 20 February 2023. Sayed Nahid Hasan, labor inspector General, Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishment (DIFE), Dhaka was present as resource person of the training. Kabir Mamun, Project Coordinator and Nusrat Jahan, Case Management Officer, OSHE Foundation took the sessions in the training. A total of 17 trade union leader, journalist and social worker from Savar and Dhamrai were participated to the training where 06 were women and 11 were men.

Second training on “application process for compensation benefits with the central fund for victims/volunteers” was organized at u-multipurpose hall, Mirpur, Dhaka on 28 February 2023. OSHE Director Md. Alam hossain inaugurated the training. Sayed Nahid Hasan, labor inspector General, Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishment (DIFE), Dhaka was present as resource person of the training. Kabir Mamun, Project Coordinator Moderated the training. Distinguished trade union leaders, factory workers were participated to the training. Distinguished trade union leaders and factory workers from Dhaka were participated to the training. A total of 17 participants joined the training event where 15 were women and 02 were men.

Third training on “application process for compensation benefits with the central fund for victims/volunteers” was held on 20 March 2023 at Industrial Relation Institute, Tongi Bazar, Gazipur. A total of 17 members participated the training. These volunteers are engaged to collect information related to occupational accident and diseases and will assist to apply for compensation benefits with central fund for workers accordingly. This volunteer groups are comprised with the members of different trade unions, representative of workers, social workers and local journalists.

Sheikh Mostafizur Rahman, Labour Inspector (General), Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishment (DIFE)presented there as training facilitator where Nusrat Jahan, Case Management Officer, OSHE Foundation moderated the event.

The participants were oriented on the legal issues of workplace accident, compensation benefit etc. The participants were gone through a hands-on training on how to fill up the application form for the compensation benefits.
